Pugin expert Louie Young from Pugin After Dark and the musicians from Cheadle Community Band treated us to a fabulous afternoon in St Giles Catholic Church. We are so indebted to the church for generously giving us this gem of an afternoon. We learned a lot about the thinking of the architect AWN Pugin and then enjoyed a stunning performance from the musicians.

We have tried to get the Cheadle Community Band involved in the Arts Festival over the last couple of years, but there hasn’t been the right opportunity – however it was worth the wait as this year they were a tremendous addition to the line up.

And if that isn’t enough loveliness to enjoy, Louie brought us her colouring project which is so relaxing to take part in. All in all, this afternoon was good for the mind and soul.
At the end of the show, when thanking everyone involved, I remarked that it was pleasing to see 70+ attendees, more than last year, and was that by any chance because they’d read about it in a certain local paper put through their doors? The response was an unexpected round of applause for the Arts Festival organisers. How lovely to get this feedback.
