Totally hilarious! About 90+ people came to the Murder Mystery night last night. The U3A Drama Group performed Murder on a Budget, a humorous one-act play written by David Tristram. The atmosphere at Bishop Rawle was amazing with lots of laughter. Sometimes with Am Dram it is hard to know whether some ham acting is deliberate or just under-rehearsed. Well David Tristram has written a play that shines a light on the humour of this, and the U3A added a few extra comic lines e.g how we had to use our imagination to transfrom the lovely school stage backdrop of a galleon into a 1920s country house. All in all it was priceless!
Actually, not literally priceless but it was a grand night out for a tenner with a plate of pie and peas thrown in, and a very cheap bar. Amusingly we had a number of messages from concerned ticket holders saying “there must be a mistake on the ticket, it says pie and pea is included in the price”. Nope, thanks to the community spirit of everyone involved and the generous grant fund that we have received, we are able to bring all the joy of the festival to the town either free or at low cost.
Please come and support our next events and make sure our workshops are full too.
A few pics from the night

And as with all our events, we couldn’t put on such a show without everyone being so community-minded and our volunteers working behind the bar and tidying up afterwards also deserve a huge round of applause.
