There was a real buzz at our annual arts and crafts event in the Guild Hall this year. Chatting to the visitors it was clear that some had come from further afield than previous years. It is good that news of our event is reaching further as our talented local artists deserve wider recognition. This year we also had a few exhibitors from slightly further afield in the county. Again, this is great because the people of Cheadle deserve to see a fresh exhibition every year, with talent from across Staffordshire displayed on their doorstep.
When it comes to visitors, we felt very honoured to receive a Mayoral visit. So brilliant that the town really gets behind the Arts Festival programme as a whole.
As ever the cakes were amazing. If people want to wander round the arts and crafts then settle in for a chat over a cuppa, that seems like a cultural and relaxing way to spend an hour or two on a Saturday. So this year we added to the pleasure of that experience by inviting Legato and Licorice, a local wind quartet, to serenade us from the stage. Their music choice was spot on for the event and didn’t in any way hinder artists being able to chat with members of the public. The music helped to create such a lovely atmosphere in the Guild Hall.
We are hugely grateful to the artists who put such a lot of effort into displaying their work. We offer heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers who organised the event and helped out on the day. We are also very pleased to acknowledge the support from OUTSIDE Creative People & Places Programme from whom we received a generous grant to enable us to deliver this event for the benefit of local people.
